Sir Y.N. Akirikwen, SAN is the principal counsel of Yusufu Nya Akirikwen & Associates which he founded in 1990 and was re-registered as Y.N. Akirikwen & Associates in 2008. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987, appointed Notary Public of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2011 and conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2020.

The Learned Silk has had an extensive practice of law both in the private and public spheres. In private practice, he has expertly combined litigation, corporate law practice, real estate and alternative dispute resolution.

In the public sector, he served as the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Taraba State between November 2015 and May 2019. He was the Legal Adviser to the Children and Youth Foundation in Jalingo, Taraba State, between 2000 and 2007, Member Taraba State Judicial Service Commission between 2000 and 2004.

Sir Y.N. Akirikwen, SAN has taken up extra responsibilities; He was the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association,Taraba State Chapter between 1995 and 1999; Member, Governing Council, University of Benin between 2000 and 2004; Member, Governing Board, Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research, Benin-City between 2000 and 2004; Member, Presidential Visitation Panel, Federal University of Technology, Akure in 2004;The Learned Silk is an alumnus of the Nigerian Law School (Lagos) and University of Maiduguri in Borno State.
